Laser cleaning technology refers to the process of using high-energy laser beam to irradiate the surface of the work-piece, making the particles, rust and coating on the surface evaporate and peel instantly, so as to achieve cleaning.

In recent years, with the enhancement of people’s awareness of environmental protection, it has brought great challenges to the development of cleaning industry around the world. Various cleaning technologies that are conducive to environmental protection emerge as the times require, and laser cleaning technology is one of them.

For an airport, runway is the key facility of its operation. When the aircraft tires are landing at high speed, the friction contact with the runway surface causes high temperature. The high temperature makes the tire rubber melt instantaneously, and the rubber melts and adheres to the pavement texture. With the increase of friction times and the passage of time, the pavement rubber layer thickens continuously, resulting in the decrease of pavement friction coefficient, which affects the braking performance of the aircraft, especially when the pavement is wet, The adhesion of rubber on the runway reduces the friction force obviously, which directly affects the safe landing of the aircraft.

Therefore, every major airport cleans the runway irregularly every year, and ensures that the friction coefficient of pavement surface is not less than 0.5, so as to avoid accidents.

At present, the commonly used degumming equipment in the industry are ground milling machine and mobile shot blasting machine. However, the surface of runway will be damaged by the surface milling machine; If it is not cleaned up in time, it will cause damage to the aircraft and increase the workload of workers.

In the actual runway cleaning operation, different energy and moving speed should be adopted according to the actual “glue black” thickness, so as to achieve better cleaning efficiency and effect.

Laser cleaning machine is customized for airport runway, which can not only effectively remove the tire rubber layer on the runway, but also will not cause any damage to the runway. It is energy-saving and environmental friendly, and is the preferred cleaning equipment for runway cleaning. Test Results

In order to test the practical application effect of laser cleaning in airport runway rubber, we used a 500 W pulse fiber laser source. The laser wavelength is 1064 nm, the pulse width is 130-160 ns, the repetition rate is 20-50 kHz, the laser core diameter is 200, and the single pulse energy is 25 MJ. In the experiment, the cleaning speed of 20 mm / s was selected, and the rubber was cleaned by direct radiation under each energy condition. Finally, the experiment was successful.

According to the experimental data, the cleaning efficiency is closely related to the laser energy density. When the laser energy density is very small, the laser has no obvious effect on the surface of rubber layer; When the laser energy density increases, the surface of the rubber layer begins to be cleaned by the laser, but the cleaning rate is low; When the laser energy density reaches a certain value, the cleaning efficiency will reach 100%, and the substrate surface is intact; When the laser energy density further increases, although the complete cleaning is achieved, the ablation of the substrate surface will be found under the microscope. When the light spot is constant, the single pulse energy of the laser is proportional to the laser energy density.

 

There are cleaning threshold and damage threshold in laser cleaning. Between the initial cleaning threshold and the complete cleaning threshold, the cleaning efficiency increases with the increase of laser energy density. Between the complete cleaning threshold and the damage threshold, the substrate surface cleanliness remains 100% without any damage.
